Conversation

If I asked some of you to share with me about your favorite band, sport or place to eat...you could talk my ear off!!!! But here is a harder question, for all the time some of us spend inside the walls of the church, can we really explain what we believe about Christ or do we look like Ms. Teen USA South Carolina trying to explain why kids can't use maps?(search youtube for miss teen usa)
In the business world, a salesperson should be able to explain their product and why you should buy one in the time it takes to ride an elevator from the first to the 5th floor. While we aren't selling Jesus, we should be able to tell people what we believe in our own words.

How would you answer this question:
"What's the big deal about Jesus?"

I think way too often I worry about not knowing what to say when I get asked about my faith. Jesus is my everything. But saying those words alone is not enough for someone who doesn't understand. When I have talked to someone who doesn't know where they are with their faith, the first question I usually ask is "who do YOU think Jesus is? And, do you know WHAT and WHO He died to save?" You have to go back to the very first book of the bible and explain that Man sinned first, and thats why we needed saving in the first place. I will be the first to admit, having faith is hard! There is nothing tangible about it! And that is what alot of people have a hard time comprehending, people want something they can touch and hold, not a feeling that enters your body. But that's simply WHAT faith is, beliving when you can't see it. And until you can surrender your human pride and let Christ CAPTURE you with His love that you will never be able to tangibly hold, you won't be able to understand. When your life is filled with Christ you are filled with INDESCRIBABLE joy (check out 1 Peter 1:8) When you put your eyes on Christ everything else will fall into place!

That may be really "rambly" but college kids do alot of thinking :)

and Nate since you mentioned favorite bands in this blog, everyone please check out the new david crowder cd! its amazing!
